{Four Fun Finds} Favorite Vintage Inspiration…

Some of you may be aware of my vintage book & toy love. I’ve been collecting vintage treasures for a little while now under the guise of gifting them to Sayer. However, it has become very apparent that I may need to start sharing my collection a bit. Particularly when I start finding doubles of my favorite things (that applies to mostly books). So, my new outlet for my findings will be the hutch etsy shop & these four finds were just added! I really do enjoy the idea of sharing things that delight me so much, with others & these particular finds are among my very favorites.

2. The Red Balloon – Albert Lamorisse – 1956 (a favorite in our house along with the movie)
3. Dick Bruna Picture Cubes (with 6 illustrations) -1980
4. The Happy Lion – Louise Fatio & Roger Duvoisin -1956

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

{Four Finds} Cool Characters…

I’m always fond of a cool character & these four folks have caught my eye. They bring a smile to my face when I see them & make me wonder what sort of adventures they’ve been on. I’ll bet their creators are just as interesting… Hope they put a smile on your face too!

{Vintage Inspiration} four finds…

I’ve been playing this game of karma lately when it comes to finding cool vintage goodies. It seems as if by dropping off a few boxes of my own junk at the local thrifts, I increase my luck with what I find at my favorite antique shop. I was over the moon with this latest batch of vintage goodness. Funny, but I think I shop & find things by palette. These four finds were purchased in the same few days (3 in the same trip).

My fondness for the monkey toy goes way back. When I saw him on the shelf, I think I jumped a little bit. I remember buying one just like that at a garage sale when I was kid. I thought he may freak Sayer out, but it’s like the monkey from “Toy Story” so he thought it was funny. The cover of the book immediately drew me in- I’m a sucker for owls, kitties, & illustrations of that vintage. I love the palette & imagery. Of course when I see any kind of vintage train or fire truck, I snatch it up of Sayer and this little vintage Fisher Price toy thrilled him. The tin, red doll case was a total score & now houses Sayer’s toys in my studio. All of these finds have actually found homes in my studio where I’m sure they will serve as inspiration in one form or another. Do you have a group of colors that you find you are drawn to often & are inspired by?
Hope are enjoying your weekend!

{Four Finds} Japan on my mind…

{Purple Flowers Bubble dress- verypurpleperson– Tokyo}

I’m at a bit of a loss for words concerning the recent events in Japan. I have such a feeling of overwhelming sadness and fear for the people that are going through such a terrifying natural disaster. Every time I hear or see something so horrific on the news, I try to wrap my brain around it- which is sort of impossible really. So, with Japan on my mind, here is some  handmade loveliness that came from some Etsy Shops in Japan for my four finds.
{Hand Screen Printed Fabrics – Kalla- Shimotsuma, Ibaraki- Japan}
{Dreaming of Spring Pillow Case– Frumafar- Japan}
{Toddler London Messanger Bag– Mee a Bee- Asaka, Japan}

Hope you all had a safe & thoughtful weekend!

{Four Finds} color is everywhere…

There are so many creative examples of brilliant color out there in cyberland. Color in all of it’s forms & textures inspires me, so I thought I would share four of my recent color finds with you.

{1} I’ve been quite drawn to Andrea Cavagnaro’s work using felt stacks. I think I like the form & texture as much as the color.

{2 & 3} I’m a total book nut- which is why the the book color wheel & rainbow Dr. Seuss books caught my attention immediately.

{4} The Rainbow House-  Oh those stairs, those floors & that slide!  Wouldn’t you just love to visit that space for awhile?  I know I would….

Hope you are having a colorful weekend!
