{art imitating life} If I was an owl…

I have worn glasses since I was four years old. I actually got them on the day that my little brother was born. There was a time that I wore contacts – for about 11 year actually.  But wearing glasses makes me feel more like me. Growing up, I did feel a bit different because of them and tended to gravitate towards kids that wore them also. Wearing glasses seemed to affect how I reacted to a ball being thrown at me (I ducked) which meant I was the last to be chosen for teams in P.E. Maybe that is why I always did things that didn’t require teams- I was a dancer until my junior year in high school and then played tennis.  So, it is safe to say that I definitely have a soft spot for kids that wear glasses.

I have been thinking a lot about glasses lately as I am completely overdue for an eye exam and have had a permanent eye twitch for weeks now. I have been sort of excited about picking out a new pair of frames. I suppose that is why I bought the funky, linen eye glasses fabric a while back. Chris and I had a day to ourselves in Seattle on Monday, and I found myself a pair of new frames and I completely have glasses on the brain. Well, sometimes, when I work on plush orders, I make one plush a little different- just to amuse myself and spice things up. You can call it art imitating life, because this owl plush hipster just emerged last night when I was working on an order of owl plushies. I know I would have loved this wise friend as a kid!
