{Music Monday} Snowday…

This morning, after Sayer’s pre-birthday slumber party with his aunt K & uncle B, we all woke up to a flurry of big, fluffy snowflakes & a beautiful blanket of white outside. Snow days like this aren’t particularly common here in the northwest so it made the weekend even more magical for Sayer.

When I watched the snow fall today, it made me think this holiday Starbuck’s video that used the  Matt  Pond PA song, Snow Day. I love the concept of this video & it seemed fitting to play it again. Not to mention, it’s always nice to start a Monday morning with some Starbuck’s coffee.  Happy Music Monday! (Thanks to our favorite Montreal friends, for the yellow hat!)

{Wednesday} A little pick-me-up…

I’m on the last stretch of a nasty cold bug. While I’ve tried to take it easy, rather than my normal – powering through the bug, I can’t say I’ve done a very good job at laying low. There are plushies to sew & orders to fill. I need a little pick-me-up right now… something to get me revved up and to forget my stuffed nose & hacking cough. This just might do the trick…

Alix, from Modern Kiddo, posted this video from Up & Over It on Twitter about a month ago and I bookmarked it for an energy break emergency. Wow, did I need it today. Now I’m heading back to the studio…

{Music Monday} as sweet as honey…

{images via here & here}

I discovered the Portland band, Horse Feathers, last year via NPR. They had posted a, “Tiny Desk Concert” on their music blog and I remember listening to the whole thing, then heading right over to itunes to purchase, “House with No Home”. I always felt that their music seemed really seasonal- and I just started playing their music again because it felt right with the weather.  To me it’s the perfect Northwest studio music. I realize, that the first video comes from the album (Thistled Spring) and is actually about Spring, so I am a bit off… but there was something about it that felt right to post it today.

One of the things that I think is pretty amazing is that this band sounds so great in a tiny little office or in any space they play. They appear genuine and accessible and I think part of me responds to that as well.  Happy Music Monday
