I just ran across a shop this week via Etsy that I wanted to share called Mummysam. This shop is full of wonderful things that caught my attention- letterpress prints, dolls, & fabric. The fabric combines two things that I really love- textiles & unique illustrations. This artist has her fabric digitally printed via Spoonflower which is something that I have been interested in exploring for some time now with my own work.
I am really drawn to the style, palette, and imagery of these fabrics and would be tempted to frame them among many other things. Wouldn’t they be great included in a quilt? Happy Fabric Friday! {images via Mummysam shop}
{Fabric Friday} framable fabric …

{Good Read} Weird & Wonderful…
One of my favorite local bookstores (Village Books in Bellingham, WA) sends you a postcard on your birthday that gives you the percentage of how old you are, off of a purchase. I have been getting these in the mail since I was in high school and always save mine for a special or unique book. Of course now my discount is bigger than it used to be – but next year I will reach the limit. Chris and I recently had a “date night” and after dinner out, spent time browsing the shelves of books so that we could use our very old postcards. This is the book I selected, Weird & Wonderful and it is just that…. and more.
I am intrigued by this book to say the least. What really sparked my interest is what is written on the bottom: Discoveries From The Mysterious World of Forgotten Children’s Books. There are so many gorgeous & odd illustrations, these are just a few of my favorites. I highly recommend flipping through this if you are as interested in illustrations and children’s books as I am. It’s published by a small local publisher call Laughing Elephant Press (Green Tiger Press) out of Seattle that publishes some really sweet children’s books. This is a cool find & a good read for sure.

{Fun} All about glasses…
You may remember the post I wrote awhile back about glasses. I had just made a glasses wearing Ollie Owl and was reminiscing about wearing glasses since I was 4 years old. It became clear to me after writing the post, that even though I felt alone in my glasses wearing trials & tribulations over the years, that I most certainly was not. From the responses that I received, I am now aware that there seems to be a large group of us out there in the world. – A special group at that. We are the kind of people that smile and compliment a small child that is wearing glasses any time we see one. You know who you are…I created this Etsy treasury is for you.

{Good Read} Stunning illustrations
I love books- everything about them. One of my favorite things to do is browse book stores. The book design is what really attracts me to this activity. I have my favorite book designers & illustrators and think of them as having rock star status. Admittedly, I have purchased books solely on their covers. On those rare occasions that the books content is as good as the cover, well then we have a real keeper.
One of my oldest & dearest friends shares this love of design and books with me. She sent Sayer one of the coolest books I had ever seen, for Halloween this last year. It proudly sits on the very top book ledge in Sayer’s room and keeps an eye on him. He actually used to call it mommy – because of the glasses (I hope). Jeremy Holmes was the creator & illustrator of the unique masterpiece, There Was an Old Lady, and partnered with Chronicle Books. Recently, I read a great interview with Jeremy in the new UPPERCASE magazine about how the book came to be.
Isn’t it interesting that we live in a time where a small video is made to advertise a book? This video is so cool. It definitely gives you the feeling of the book. Jeremy Holmes did an outstanding job on this project. But looking at his portfolio, he is very familiar with doing good work.
